Gerry Ford founded Caffè Nero in 1997, aiming to bring a high-quality café culture similar to those in Europe to the UK. The goal was to create an authentic Italian coffee brand offering premium espresso-based beverages and fresh, quality food while becoming a community hub. By the end of 2000, the brand had grown into a national chain with 31 stores. Never hesitant to expand, Gerry opened Caffè Nero’s first international store in Turkey in 2007. The first branch, located in İstinye Park, marked the coffee sector’s first major partnership in Turkey.

Today, Caffè Nero operates 50 stores in Turkey, including six Nero Express locations in İzmir, Ankara, and Istanbul, employing 600 staff and hosting over 1,000,000 guests monthly. Globally, the brand operates nearly 1,000 stores across seven countries, with a workforce exceeding 5,000. As a beloved part of coffee culture, Caffè Nero has become one of the most recognized and admired coffee brands worldwide.

Caffè Nero Turkey partnered with D-CAT Technologies’ Business Intelligence team to enhance the efficiency of tracking financial performance and analyzing operational development.

The project, initiated in January 2016 and completed in August 2016, aimed to consolidate sales data from stores using Micros systems and financial data managed through SAP ERP into unified reports. Additionally, the project aimed to align financial data from Caffè Nero Turkey with standardized report templates used by the headquarters in the UK.

Project Scope:

  • Data Integration: Summary tables were created using Universes and SSIS to combine data from Micros and SAP ERP systems.
  • Reporting: Reports on sales, materials, and financial data were prepared.
  • Training: Classroom training sessions were conducted for users.

Upon completion, a scenario analysis report on pricing allowed the company to evaluate the potential profitability impacts of price adjustments using parameters. A comprehensive KPI tracking report set enabled detailed financial and sales data to be shared with company management in a Like-for-Like format during specified periods.
