Founded in 1938 as Özsüt Muhallebicisi in İzmir’s Kemeraltı, Özsüt has grown into a factory capable of producing over 50 tons of products daily. With a wide product range, including dairy desserts, cakes, ice cream, baked goods, chocolate, bread, and yogurt, the company serves consumers across 40 cities at 165 locations. Special products for chain stores are distributed to approximately 3,000 outlets nationwide. 

Having doubled its size over the past three years, Özsüt plans to maintain its rapid growth in the coming years. In line with this vision, the company aimed to consolidate and standardize its reporting and analytics processes, making them accessible at all times, accelerating decision-making, and increasing efficiency. 

To achieve these goals, Özsüt partnered with D-CAT Technologies, an SAP Business Partner, to implement SAP’s business intelligence solutions: SAP BusinessObjects BI and BPC. 

Project Objectives and Implementation 

The project kicked off in 2012, following a series of consultations with SAP experts. The implementation was planned module by module, starting with the SD module, and was completed in just two months, covering planning, testing, and training phases. 

According to Bülent Üvey, Özsüt’s Management Systems and Budget Control Manager, the primary goal was to simplify the reports generated by different departments and speed up the reporting process. He shared: 

• “Our teams faced challenges when new analyses were requested, and traveling managers often struggled to access reports, causing delays. Comparing SAP-based sales data with non-SAP information, such as budgets and targets, was also a tedious process. This project aimed to eliminate these challenges, streamline the process, and ensure real-time accessibility.” 

Achievements and Benefits 

The project yielded significant improvements: 

• The time spent on report preparation was redirected to report analysis. 

• Real-time tracking of target vs. actual reports became possible, providing updated data instantly. 

• Integration of non-SAP data into the system simplified evaluations and allowed analyses to be completed in hours rather than days. 

• Managers gained instant access to reports online and could track summary data and trends through dashboards. 

Future Prospects 

Özsüt plans to complete the implementation of all modules soon, including the BPC project, which is expected to integrate budgeting and consolidation processes with SAP by 2013. Üvey stated:
