Enhancing Performance During the Growth Journey
Semak, a family-owned company carrying the legacy of three generations, began its journey in 1949 when Süleyman Yağızyılmaz established the business in Tahtakale. In the early 1970s, Semak introduced the Italian Oleo-Mac brand to Turkey, marking the beginning of a partnership that has lasted over 40 years.
In 1993, the company was officially incorporated as Semak Makina Ticaret ve Sanayi Limited Şirketi, and by 1999, it had moved into its own building in Istanbul’s Kartal district, signaling a major milestone toward becoming a global brand. Today, Semak operates from its headquarters in Gebze, which spans 13,000 m² of open space and 7,500 m² of covered area. With 70 employees, expanding investments, and growing business volume, Semak continues to work steadily towards its goals.
To improve its performance during its growth journey, Semak collaborated with D-CAT Technologies’ Business Intelligence Team to implement SAP Business Objects solutions. The project commenced in July 2015.
Project Overview:
The primary objective of the project was to consolidate SAP Business Objects 3.1 and SAP Business Objects 4.0 systems onto a single server. Key steps included:
- Analyzing the existing two systems to ensure compatibility with the new SAP Business Objects 4.1 environment.
- Completing installations and initiating the data migration process.
- Configuring the system and conducting extensive testing before fully transitioning to BI 4.1.
The project was successfully completed by D-CAT Technologies within five days.
Results:
- Consolidation of Systems: The two separate servers were merged into a single server, resulting in reduced hardware, electricity, and maintenance costs.
- Improved Performance: With the SAP Business Objects 4.1 infrastructure, Semak achieved a faster and more efficient reporting and analysis system.
- Cost Savings and Efficiency: The streamlined system allowed for more sustainable operations while maintaining high performance.
Leveraging its expertise and experience, D-CAT Technologies successfully completed the project in just five days, adding another accomplishment to its portfolio.
